ANDERSON, S.C – Colby Howard, 15, of Simpsonville, South Carolina ran with the leaders all evening long at Anderson Motor Speedway in Anderson, South Carolina on Friday before a tire losing air caused his car to fade late in the race and he wound up with his second straight sixth place finish.
It was a bittersweet result for Howard, who qualified third and was running down the leader when the tire started going down.
“It was fun to be fast and it’s great that we had a car in the feature to win, but it’s also a bummer to finish sixth because a tire was going down,” Howard said after the race.
“I passed Lee Pulliam, who is a national champion, for second and we were driving away from him when the tire started losing air. It’s frustrating, because our team deserves a win for the hard work they put in. We’re trying. We know we’re close. We just need a little good luck to go with our speed and we’ll get there. Thanks to The Odorless, Eubanks Oil and Southern Utilities for all they do for us. We’ll head back to The Beach for the Twin 40’s and see what we can do.”
Colby and the team will be at the legendary Myrtle Beach Speedway in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina this Saturday night, July 22nd.
